A few months ago I entered this poem in a poetry competition. I didn't place, but I would still like to share it with you. So pour yourself a glass of this delicious Lavender Tea Lemonade, and savor the summer!
Purple Kites - Wiebke Papenfus
My heart starts singing, I smell purple in the air,
The sun is shining and the sky is all clear.
Not a cloud to see up in the blue far above,
As I stroll through a meadow of lavender love.
I breathe in deeply this airborne delight -
I start singing summer and the notes take flight!
They dance up higher like kites on a string
And all around me every bloom starts to sing.
They lift me higher and with them I soar…
But then the humidity pulls me down to the floor.
In the amethyst field I land on two feet,
But I just keep singing in the summer heat.
I celebrate all these summer delights very fleeting:
Michigan’s short summer soon advents winter heating.
God bless until next time!
